LG RC897T DVD/VCR Recorder
Item arrived in good condition. Set up was straightforward with printed manual. However, HDMI connection with either the TV or the audio-video receiver does not work. I tried all the suggested fixes in the manual, even changing out the HDMI cable, but still receive a distorted, green image of broadcasts. I'm keeping it because I suspect the LG unit's HDMI port is not compatible with my equipment (old Sony TV and new Yamaha receiver) unlike my old, kaput Sony DVD/VCR recorder. I get good results in recording and playback through component and optical cables. I can't find a Sony replacement so I'm desperate and will keep the unit.

LG DVD/VCR combo Player-Recorder
This is the second LG DVD/VCR player-recorder I've purchased. I liked the first one so much, I bought a second one. The price was great! Very nice unit - Lots of great features that the other don't have
I've had this unit for a while now and just started utilizing it again because I just bought an HDMI switcher that allows me to have it connected full time as opposed to unplugging an HDMI cable from the back of my TV and then plugging the DVD recorder in only when I needed to record something. But, the upscaling capabilities on this thing are awesome. Didn't know this was possible but I actually see a difference between this LG Upscaler and my Blu-ray player when it comes to regular DVD's. Definitely need to read up on the manual before attempting certain things. But dubbing your old VHS tapes to DVD is as easy as inserting a blank DVD and pushing "Dubbing".
