Product Description - 

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-H2 Field Tablet, the second generation fully rugged tablet PC designed for field workers, will be available at the end of July, according to Panasonic. 

This Windows 7 tablet will have a 10.1-inch resistive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 and Panasonic’s Transflective Plus technology, which the company claims will provide a layer that reflects sunlight and uses it as backlight up to 6,000 nits, all in the name of decreased power consumption. It will have a Wacom digitizer and support active pen input, and can be fitted with a two-megapixel camera.

The tablet will be powered by an Intel Core i5-2557M ULV processoroperating at 1.7GHz and will have vPro technology and Intel HD 3000 graphics. 

The CF-H2 will be fanless and feature optional screw hole covers that protect the device from dust and particles. It will sport a magnesium alloy chassis that Panasonic claims will be able to withstand drops of six feet. 

As for the elements, the device is said to operate from -20 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and will have wireless connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and optional Gobi mobile broadband. 

With 4GB of RAM, the H2 can be fitted with up to 8GB of RAM and will have a 80GB HDD standard for storage.

Unlike its predecessor, the H2 will have ports for Serial, USB and Ethernet, which can be changed to a second USB port if necessary. Two software additions will include Fast Boot technology, allowing the tablet to start up in 25 seconds, and a BIOS-level keyboard. 

Additional options for the H2 will include: GPS, a bar code scanner and RFID reader. Panasonic will also provide optional security features including a fingerprint reader, contactless SmartCard reader and an insertable SmartCard reader. 

The tablet will measure 10.8 x 10.6 x 2.3 inches and weigh 3.5 pounds. It will have two hot-swappable batteries, providing up to 6.5 hours of endurance.
